The aim of BIM is to efficiently arrive at the most optimal design possible and to reduce failure costs in construction. This is only possible if the parties who are now communicating with each other for the first time at the site had done so much earlier.

Through the standardisation of the BIM content layer, TechBiM establishes an open ecosystem in which all key players (Users, Manufacturers, Partners, and End Users) can collaborate across each of the three BIM layers. This facilitates earlier and easier communication between parties, thereby enabling optimal collaboration with increased efficiency and reduced frustrations, communication issues, and errors.

An open and robust ecosystem

TechBiM cultivates an open ecosystem which reinforces itself. All actors in the construction process can indeed contribute a portion of the added value that elevates the ecosystem and all stakeholders to a higher level. Each actor fulfils their inherent role in the construction process not only in the physical world, but also in the digital realm. They can also distinguish themselves by focusing on creating added value and developing their own identity.

TechBiM was established to prevent parties to invest in a library tied to a single commercial entity.

Through the standardisation initiative of TechBiM, manufacturer data can be permanently linked to BIM objects, allowing it to be utilised by all parties throughout the entire construction process.

TechBiM and MatBiM are both seeking sustainable solutions for the entire construction sector.

An ecosystem such as TechBiM offers numerous opportunities, such as assessing the impact of a building before it is constructed or achieving improved designs to better integrate future technologies which enhance your building.

Users

“User” is a collective term for actors who create a digital twin of a real building. This can occur at any stage of the life cycle. From design to execution, management and maintenance, through to demolition or renovation. Consider consulting and engineering firms, installation companies, general contractors, and facility management companies.

Do you manufacture or assemble physical products? Would you be willing to provide their digital representation for users in the digital world? You belong to the category of manufacturers. Consider lighting, switchgear, cable management, heating boilers, heat pumps, radiators, pumps, air ducts, …

Partners

Partners include any party that assists manufacturers and/or users in providing (digital) services. They include service providers such as BIM content developers, training centres, helpdesks, consulting firms, implementation services, and software developers; as well as Software as a Service (SaaS) providers, wholesalers, up to federations and collaborations between complementary manufacturers.

End Users

End users are parties who occupy or allow the occupation of the physical building, such as project owners, building companies, project managers, clients, housing cooperatives, and social housing associations.
